Nice to meet you! My name is Lara Selvaggi and I live in Zurich, Switzerland.
I spread my experience, passion and cross-competences in two different disciplines for a long time: the dance and the Physics. They seem to belong to two different worlds, though they are close to each other more than you can image.
I was born in 1982 in Naples, Italy.
At the age of 5 I began to take ballet classes. It was immediately a huge passion. In 2001 I got the Certified Diploma for professional ballet and contemporary dance with teaching qualification.
I immediately started to teach ballet in a small but lovely dance school in Naples, and I taught there for 11 years.
But dance was not my only one passion.
At the age of 18 I enrolled at the Physics’ faculty. In 2006 I graduated in Physics, cum laude, and three years later I got my PhD in Biophysics. The main topic of my study has been the investigation of biomechanical changes and forces in living cells.
Since 2009 I promote the Dance&Physics class for dancers, teachers, choreographers, critics of dance and anyone who is interested in the dance analysis as vehicle for understanding science.
