In our Dance&Physics classes, every movement becomes a story, and every story reveals a principale.
In a fouetté sequence the movement of the working leg, from front to side once at each revolution, is not only a matter of aesthetic, it has to do with physical principles that allows the turn to be performed correctly.
At its core, a Dance&Physics class helps dancers understand the "why" behind every movement and it is:
• Exploratory - every movement is an experiment, every gesture reveals a principale.
• Inclusive - designed for all backgrounds, from professional dancers to curious beginners, with lessons tailored to each audience.
• Insightful - builds body awareness, confidence, and mastery over balance, turns, leaps, and rhythm.
• Imaginative - turns traditional dance study into an engaging, inspiring, and surprising journey.
• Integrative - shows how art and science intersect, revealing the hidden mechanics behind beauty and motion.
The classes are designed to give dancers insight into the mechanics of movement, helping them gain greater confidence in their bodies and master challenges such as balance, turns and leaps.
During our Dance&Physics classes we aim answering questions like:
• How can a dancer regain balance when wobbling?
• How can a dancer control the speed and rate of rotation in consecutive pirouettes?
• What techniques allow a dancer to execute the most effective pirouette?
• How can a dancer jump higher while maintaining control and form?
• How do dancers create the illusion of floating during a grand-jeté?
A Dance&Physics class provides a unique perspective, allowing dancers to experience the classic academic environment of dance in an engaging, intriguing and thought-provoking way.
